Do you love competitive combat games but, hate the pain of paintball? Then Airsoft Weapons may very well be for you. Airsoft weapons are safe, less painful during combat re-enactments or combat games as well as safer for local neighborhood target plunking in areas where many types of firearms are not allowed. There are various types of weapons available from simple air handguns and rifles to electric airguns, gas type air guns.

Parents can feel some degree of safety by allowing kids to play combat without the danger of the classic BB gunfights of the 1970's. When avoiding aiming for the head Airsoft are many times safer overall than many of the classic firing play weapons on the market today.

Training Officers can feel more secure in quality valid training than using non-firing weapons or actual weapons and live rounds increasing safety issues. Utilizing Airsoft weapons many being very similar to the actual weapons they are based upon with similar attachments, etc.

Many of these weapons are really excellent replicas of actual weapons for those in the military or law enforcement too make training more cost effective. The M-15 style weapons, 9mm style pistols and even sniper styled weapons are available for your needs to allow for realistic training without the excessive costs of bullet reloads, etc.

Basically, Airsoft weapons are safer more cost effective to both promote safer training, target practice, handling of weapons in many environments while allowing the true feel of live weapons.

Making The Most of Airsoft Target Practice

Whether or not you're an established airsoft hobbyist or a total newbie you'll eventually run into the same problem that all airsoft fans have - finding something to shoot at. Although they're quite powerful most airsoft handguns and rifles can be fired indoors and outdoors without any real danger - bearing in mind that you should be wearing safety glasses. The majority of airsoft owners choose firing at tin cans or printed targets in their back gardens or other such areas. Are these your only choices? Nope! You can buy two types of specifically designed airsoft targets that increase your enjoyment and can actually save you money.

Using airsoft targets can save you money? "How is that possible!?" I hear you cry. The answer is remarkably simple. Most airsoft guns fire 6mm plastic bbs. They come in a huge variety of weights, colors and styles but they have one single inherent flaw - they're so, so easy to lose; and in large numbers too! This problem is bad enough inside a room - try firing off 20 bb rounds and finding all 20. You'll be lucky to find 10. This problem of "loss" is magnified 1000% outdoors. They're just small and very difficult to find in the best conditions - nevermind rummaging through grass and leaves to find your lost bbs.

Airsoft bbs don't cost a fortune but if you're losing several hundred of them per week the cost can quickly add up and make your hobby less enjoyable than it previously was. Who really wants to throw money away these days?

Using a properly designed airsoft target can help you keep more of your bbs. How? There are two basic types of airsoft targets.

Sticky Target: These are normally small round targets which have been treated with a sticky coating to make your airsoft bbs adhere to them - they get stuck so they can't get lost. This stickyness also provides real proof of just how accurate an airsoft marksman or markswoman you might be.

Catcher Target: A more complex type of airsoft target. This device has several small targets which reset themselves (kinda like bowling pins do) when hit. Behind the set of collapsable targets is a simple net which catches all your stray bbs in one neat spot. Once you've finished plinking you can simply recover all the bbs that you've used in that session.

An airsoft fixed target is not an absolute necessity for an airsoft hobbyist but does come in very handy and as we've mentioned before it can definitely help save you money in the long run of your gun ownership. As far as I'm concerned they're worth the small investment involved.
