The Benefits of Using a Special Ops M14 Airsoft Gun

There are hundreds of high quality airsoft rifles that any enthusiast has the option of choosing from, and because of this wide selection, some people have a hard time coming to a final decision. The best thing you can do to have your choice facilitated is to read reviews of different airsoft guns, as those give more in depth information than simple product information. This article is a review of the Special Ops M14, which is a sniper rifle that sports a unique wood finish. It is rare to find good looking airsoft guns that come in a wooden style, but this is one of the few products that fits this description and is also very high quality.

Despite only pricing at one-hundred thirty dollars, this M14 has tons of great features that make it extremely powerful and accurate. One feature that is imperative for a sniper rifle is an adjustable hop-up system, which allows you to further control the direction and accuracy of shots that you fire. Hop-up is featured in nearly all quality airsoft rifles nowadays, but it does not have as much value without other factors backing it up. For example, in the Special Ops M14, there is also a precision barrel which enhances the hop-up, and the use of a full metal, new generation gearbox makes every shot one full of potential.

Being that this is a sniper rifle, there is a mount on top that allows you to install virtually any scope you can think of. If scopes don't suit you, there is always the option to put a red-dot sight on instead, although a scope would probably work better. The package for this airsoft gun does not come with a scope, so you have to purchase it separately.

To prevent the need to constantly reload, the package comes with two high capacity magazines. You probably will only need to use one, as since sniper rifles are not automatic, you do not go through rounds that quickly. This is a good thing for you because it makes you a more efficient player, and you do not need to continuously purchase more pellets because you go through them so fast. As you can see, all of these factors culminate to make a great airsoft gun that is useful in a multitude of airsoft related situations.

The M14 is only one of many premier airsoft guns that the writer talks about on his blog. In addition to products, the author engages all aspects of airsoft in his writings.

Why Use Airsoft Spring Guns?

Would you rather buy yourself a spring, electric, or gas powered airsoft gun? When airsoft enthusiasts are asked this question they will most likely answer either the second or third choice. Spring guns are usually overlooked because of their one-shot capability coupled with their limited power and distance.

But if you are just beginning with the sport, then you might one to consider buying a spring powered gun. The first reason for buying this gun would be because of its cheap price. This kind of airsoft gun is definitely the cheapest among the three. If you want to play airsoft without going broke than this is the choice for you.

And the gun is not only cheap to buy, but cheap to maintain as well. You do not have to keep on buying batteries like you would for electric guns, or gas canisters like you would for gas powered guns. And since these guns only fire one bullet at a time, you can save a lot on BB expenses as well.

Spring guns are also the most silent among the three. This is why airsoft sniper rifles are spring powered. It only takes one bullet to take your opponent out of the game, so why do you need to waste hundreds of them trying to hit him? If you want to eliminate your opponent stealthily then a spring powered gun would be the right weapon for you.

When choosing a spring powered gun, you should buy from a reputable gun retailer. You should also buy from a good gun brand as well. Fake guns usually contain poor quality springs that will break after a few reloads. You should also choose a gun which you can easily reload and whose magazine can carry the most number of bullets.

If you want to play airsoft without spending too much money, then you should buy yourself airsoft spring guns.

Which is the Best Airsoft Gun For You?

Airsoft is a sport that has gained a lot of popularity in recent times. It is safe, fun and unlike its counterpart paintball, is non-messy. As a result, the sport now has a huge adult fan following. If you have also been bitten by the Airsoft bug and are planning to buy or upgrade your airsoft gun, then the huge variety available in the market and online may confuse you no end. And if you select the wrong kind of airsoft gun, then you will regret your decision for a long time to come.

Good airsoft guns should be treated as investments in the sport and in your airsoft skill, and some thought and research definitely needs to go in there if you want to enjoy airsoft to the hilt. We discuss below the main types of airsoft guns to give you a better idea of what the best gun will be for you.

Airsoft Machine Guns

Almost all airsoft machine guns are powered by an electric motor which makes their operation fully automatic or at least semi automatic. Coming in light yet realistic looking versions of real machine guns models, these plastic and metal airsoft guns are perfect for those who want to go on and on when they get down on the battle field. Battery powered airsoft machine guns come with a rechargeable battery that works the internal gears of the machine to cock a powerful spring. Every time the trigger is pressed, the spring propels airsoft BBs with power and precision.

The advantage of airsoft machine guns is that they are very fast and powerful, and unlike spring loaded guns, do not need to be cocked for every shot. The downside is that you may have to carry spare batteries whenever you plan on playing for a long time.

Airsoft Sniper Rifles

Airsoft sniper rifles are single shot spring propelled guns. Just like real rifles, these guns have to be cocked for every single shot. While spring airsoft guns come in all price ranges and are a good bet for beginners, you may invest in a high end airsoft sniper rifle if performance and aim are what you are looking for. High end airsoft snipers perform as well as real ones when it comes to hitting the bull's eye and are perfect for those who are into precision shooting and target competitions.

The only disadvantage of these guns is that they are not battery powered and need to be cocked for every shot, which makes them second best when you are playing a war game. However, using airsoft grenades can give you extra power on the battlefield when you are using spring loaded mechanisms.

Airsoft Pistols

Even though CO2 airsoft guns are available in all formats, they are most popular as airsoft pistols. Powered by green gas or CO2 in the gas chamber, gas airsoft guns are extremely powerful and as close to the real thing as you can imagine. With a blowback mechanism, CO2 airsoft guns give users a real gun like feel every time they fire a shot. However, these airsoft guns are usually the costliest in the market and are advised only for enthusiasts and collectors.

What Are The Common AEG's Used In Most Airsoft Games?

In most Airsoft games, you might have noticed that almost all players prefer to carry long automatic rifles, with just a few carrying short firearms or a shotgun. You may also have seen some airsoft games participants carry long bolt action type sniper rifles but these are usually reserved for certain missions because it is very difficult for the player to move with the lengthy barrel always getting stuck in bushes. In missions resembling close quarter urban battles, shotguns may be preferred by some participants but in almost all missions, you would definitely see various models of submachine gun rifles. So what are these common Automatic Electric Guns, or AEGs, that most airsoft game players use?

One of the most popular AEG which most participants prefer is the replica of the standard US Army rifle M4A1. Tokyo Marui M4A1 AEG works best during assault and close quarter combat. Because of its relatively compact design, it does not hamper your mobility, particularly during times when you have to move a little bit faster. A lot of airsoft games participants also like the feel and assuring presence of M16 replicas probably because of its long history with the Army which makes it synonymous with the US military.

There are other foreign Automatic Electric Guns that have gained much support among the enthusiasts and these are the replicas of Steyr Aug, G36, MP5, AK-47, and a lot more. The Steyr Aug AEG is gaining support among the airsoft games participants because of its stylish and efficient design. This type of AEG works efficiently as a medium range and assault weapon, as well.

The AEG replicas of G36 and MP5 on the other hand are very effective in short range and close quarter combat because of its shorter muzzle. They are also a valuable ally in situations where you have to roll or slide down a small ground depression to avoid getting hit or being seen. While it is not regarded as one of the best AEGs, the AK-47 replica is certainly one of the cheapest Automatic Electric Guns available. This particular AEG rifle is commonly seen carried by a lot of players in most airsoft games.

Other AEGs that are commonly used in airsoft games are replicas of M14 Sniper Rifles, 249 machine guns, M733, M70, SIG552, and a whole lot more. There are a variety of reasons why players prefer these types of AEG but it appears that handling and efficiency appears to be the common ground.

The Beginning Days of Airsoft

Remember when you were 12 years old and you got your first airsoft gun? Chances are it was a $7 spring airsoft pistol. But none the less, you were stoked! I would call up my buddies and get a game going on in my backyard or go down to the park and play airsoft in the woods.

There was something not all that fun about those cheap airsoft pistols though. It was the fact that they had no power and they often broke a few weeks after buying them. So what did you do? I went and bought another cheap airsoft spring pistol.

After going through quite a few cheap pistols, I realized I needed some more power and reliablity. It just wasn't that much fun when you had to practically be on top of the person you wanted to shoot. My first upgrade was an airsoft shotgun. It had just a little more power, but man was it fun! Cocking the airsoft shotgun using the pump action made me feel like such a warrior.

It wasn't long until everybody was upgrading to airsoft rifles and airsoft shotguns. But what I got after that shotgun would change the way we played airsoft from then on. I got my first AEG airsoft rifle. It was an MP5 that shot around 280 feet per second. Suddenly I was the king of the backyard battlefield.

Before I knew it everybody was buying electric airsoft guns. Then came the co2 pistols. These things really pack a punch. When we all started getting new guns we decided it was time to get to a real airsoft field. This was something that i just fell in love with. The action, the intensity and the realism of airsoft skirmish at a real field against other teams with snipers was absolutely awesome.

I urge everybody that casually plays around with airsoft go to your local paintball/airsoft club or field and get in on a real game. You won't regret it. But make sure you have the right airsoft gun and the right airsoft gear. Find anything you evey needed for airsoft at AirsoftEverything.com.

The Ultimate Airsoft Sniper

If you are a keen airsoft participant you probably know that the hobby does tend to revolve very much around the assault rifle and pistol. Many if not most airsoft hobbyists wish to use replicas of the AK47s, the M16s and the M4s for example, but thats for those who really want high volume fire power. What about the rest of us? Would you agree we would rather go for the "one shot kill"?

There is a real skill and beauty to that! Its all very well to smack your opponent with 100 bbs but for me the real fun is to go for that single sniper shot when they least expect it. This then adds a totally new dimension to the game.

Sniper rifles like the Super 9 are made and designed to look just like the real thing. The Super 9 is based and modeled upon a Belgian police rifle and this is the case with other, similar airsoft sniper rifles. They are very often closely designed as would police or military sniper rifles.

There is one drawback with such rifles and that is that they are somewhat bulky and somewhat heavy. But then, the idea is to be a sniper and not to run rampage like you would with an AK47 for example. You set yourself up with some camouflage, get your gun to the ready and you bed down quietly in the wait.

There are a few advantages. Most of these airsoft rifles are indeed spring powered and not electrically or gas powered. Thus, you have almost complete and utter silence when you fire your gun. Its adds up that with less noise you will over all have more success. Using a bolt-action airsoft rifle also adds to the authenticity of the whole scenario as you lay there in wait for your next victim.

To further add to your skill levels and exploits you would wish to invest in a bipod and perhaps even a laser scope to boot. With a very steady weapon and a laser scope you stand more chance of ultimate success of the long distance shot hitting its target. If you tend to be on the move a fair bit then get yourself a shoulder strap too.

It goes without saying though, at all times its necessary to practise caution and care. Although airsoft bbs will not kill they can mame, especially if it catches someone in the eye. Eye protection then really is a must have, and ideally something like a paintball full face mask would fit the bill even better!

Which Airsoft BBs Are Right For You?

When an Airsoft fan comes to researching, they mainly tend to research the next exciting gun they can add to their collection. They will think about what model of gun they want, what FPS it can achieve, and what mechanism it uses to propel the BBs, either gas or electric. They may even research protective gear so when they get shot in their games, it won't hurt as much, but it is perhaps more rare that they will research what BBs are best for their activities and indeed the model and power of gun they are using.

Manufacturer matters

One of the biggest factors to take into consideration when purchasing a BB for your Airsoft Firearm is who manufactured them. Top quality manufacturers will create BBs that are solid and seamless. They will be highly polished and slide smoothly around the inside of the gun. Another sign of a quality manufacturer is the ability to achieve the same weight and exact size consistently throughout an entire line of BBs. This will greatly improve not only your gun's power and shooting accuracy; it will also greatly increase the lifespan of your Airsoft BB gun. They hard polished and seamless surface will jam less and do no damage to the inside of your gun. Some of the top names to look out for when researching manufacturers are KSC BBs, SRC BBs and TSD Tactical BBs. Usually when you purchase a gun, they come with a packet of BBs. These are usually very low quality BBs and you are advised to discard these so as to avoid damage to your gun.

Lending weight to your decision

Another mass(ively) important factor when choosing your is the weight of the BB itself. BBs usually are a standard size of 6mm. This allows some uniformity along the range. However they can differ greatly in the weight department, with the heaviest being roughly 3 times heavier than the lightest. The last thing you want to do however is use the lightest BBs (0.12g) in a metal gear guns. They will just get chewed up, and cause damage to the inside of the gun. They will also be very inaccurate if shooting at anything further than 2 metres away. These BBs are designed for cheap and very weak Airsoft BB guns. The genera rule of BBs is that if your gun fires at up to 300 FPS (foot per second) you can use up to 0.2g BBs. This is a midrange BB and should be used for professional guns that fire at between 200 and 300 FPS. Anything over 300 FPS, you have a lot more options open. As a rule of thumb, the heavier the BB, the more accurate at long range. This is because the BB is less affected by air resistance. For very powerful guns, such as an Airsoft Sniper Rifle that can fire up to 500FPS, you can use something up to 0.36g BBs. For mid-ranged guns, for outdoor use, you are looking at 0.23 - 0.25g. For indoors close quarters combat, you are looking at a standard 0.2g BB. However this has a cost attached to it, the heavier the BB, the more it costs to product, and therefore buy. Even the delivery costs increase due to the heavier weight of the package. This is of course not just the case for BB guns; this also applies to other recreational gun ammunition such as air gun pellets as well.

How to Win at Airsoft Games

What follows is a complete guide to help you with airsoft games. Using this guide, you can purchase airsoft equipment, as well as prepare and learn how to battle. These are the steps:

First, you need to find your dominant eye that you used for aiming. Here's how. With your palms facing away from you, put one hand over the other so that you form a triangle with your palms. Holding your arms fully outstretched, focus on something in the distance through the triangle. Now, slowly bring your hands back toward your eyes. You will have moved either to the right or left; that side is your dominant eye. That is the eye you will have open when you aim.

Purchase your weapons. You will need a sidearm (a pistol) and a larger weapon (an airsoft shotgun, rifle, or submachine gun).

Check out reviews online; don't just go by the pictures and ads. Remember, FPS (feet per second) is just a basic indicator, nothing more. Some high-quality guns have low FPS ratings. FPS can be increased with upgrades.

Learn the rules of battle and some strategy (guides can be found online). Then, the role you choose in battle will determine your selection of weapon. For instance, a field person would use a longer barrel gun such as a sniper rifle or M16. For CQB (close quarters battle), you will need a short barrel such as a airsoft shotgun or carbine.

If you want a rifle, it's best to go with an AEG (airsoft electric gun) because they or fully automatic so you won't need to cock them constantly. Spring guns will do just fine for sniper rifles. There are AEG and even gas rifles but they are more expensive than not recommended.

Use green gas guns for pistols. Buy extra magazines for all guns, but especially gas guns, to save time reloading.

Pistols will run $75 and up, AEG rifles $100 and up, while good sniper rifles go for $110 and up. Buy only batteries that are recommended for your gun.

Use only high grade BB's because cheaper ones can break in the barrel and Jim. Use silicone oil for cleaning your guns.

With your guns selected, next you need to put together a team. Get your friends together and test their shooting abilities. Then give them positions and roles accordingly. For instance, those with better aim will make good snipers, and those with poor aim will be better with shotguns or in CQB. Most will need training in basic field tactics. There are some really good books you can find on warfare tactics. This will cover things like stealth, spy, open field and close quarters tactics.

Have your team members by their own equipment, if possible. That way, they'll take better care of it. And they will be happier with what they bought.

Don't be afraid to get shot when in battle (this is something everyone has to learn), because you will be shot many times regardless of how good you are. You'll get used to it, it doesn't hurt that much.

Make good use of cover and camouflage. It can make the difference in winning and losing.

Using your weapons means something will eventually break. It's not necessary to bring spare parts into the field, but it is good to have backup weapons to anticipate this. No use ruining your day because of a broken part. If you find one particular part seems to break repeatedly, consider replacing it with a better part than the original. If you go online, you will find a number of replacement parts made by third parties, just like auto parts. Spending some time online researching the companies that make these parts will give you a good feel for who provides the best value for the dollar. In other words you may regret that couple of bucks that you saved when your gun jams in the battle.

One more point about maintenance: when guns start to shoot at a lower FPS or velocity, the gun's spring has probably weakened and needs to be replaced. (Of course, make sure the battery is fully charged and all of the gun's internals are lubricated and in good working order.) The best way to check springs is to chrono them, that is, use an instrument to measure the FPS.

Shopping For Cheap Airsoft Guns

For the interested person who is looking to join the exciting and exhilarating fun of the sport of Airsoft, finding an affordable Airsoft gun is not as complicated as it may seem. Although some of the higher-end guns can be expensive, the average newcomer does not have to spend a small fortune to purchase and enjoy a quality Airsoft gun. Before the interested buyer begins to search for his optimal weapon, an understanding of the different types of guns that are available, and how these guns work can be very helpful.

Generally speaking, Airsoft guns fall into three different categories, which are defined by how the guns are designed and operate. The more complicated the inner mechanisms that fire the guns, usually the more expensive they become. The first category we will examine is the Automatic Electric Airsoft Gun or what is commonly referred to as the AEG. These electric guns are arguably the most popular guns among veteran Airsoft players. They have given the sport its greatest appeal and are singularly responsible for its explosive growth around the world. The AEG has an electric motor that is powered by an onboard battery. The motor turns the gears inside the gun, which in turn causes a piston to compress and release. The piston creates a blast of air that propels a 6mm plastic BB through the barrel of the gun. This fully automated system gives these guns the exciting rapid-fire feature that makes them so popular. These guns also tend to be the most expensive of the Airsoft gun family, usually costing around several hundred dollars.

The next group of guns to look at is the Gas Powered Airsoft guns. These guns operate by compressed air that fires the BB. The gas is either stored in an onboard cylinder or a gas filled magazine that connects to the gun. Some of the more popular styles are the gas blowback guns or commonly called the GBBs. The compressed air that fires the BB also returns the firing slide to the fire position at the same time. This return action creates a realistic "recoil" sensation from which the name blowback is derived. Reputed to be great fun to play with, the high-end GBB model guns can also cost around several hundred dollars. The non-blowback gas guns are less costly and start at around 40 dollars.

The last category of guns to look at is the Spring guns, which are also referred to as the "Springers". Commonly tagged the cheap Airsoft gun, these spring guns were the original Airsoft models. In order for the gun to fire, a spring mechanism must be manually cocked back each and every time. Due to their simplistic design, the Springers are the most inexpensive and cost effective Airsoft guns. These guns are recommended as perhaps the best for entry-level players. Most players at some point have owned one of these models, which can be purchased for as little as 20 dollars.

In an effort to find a cheap Airsoft gun the shopper must keep in mind the value for the money. Even though one can purchase a gun for around 20 dollars, this does not mean that the gun is cheap in quality. A well made 20 dollar Springer can be a great value for the money, just as a two hundred dollar AEG can be a great value as well. Usually no matter the price, buying a gun from a well-established Airsoft manufacturer is important and worth the investment.

The Sport of Airsoft vs. The Sport of Paintball Part II

In the previous article of The Sport of Airsoft vs. The Sport of Paintball, we established one of the major differences between the two sports is the actual guns, and not necessarily the cost. I would now like to turn to the conditions of each sport and what they entail.

I have recently seen more and more professional Paintball games being played and broadcasted on Television. I watch the teams compete and the strategy they import to the playing fields. With no offense towards these Paintball teams, I have to say I don't see much strategy used, especially in "SpeedBall."

It always seems to come down to the same thing and same strategy for every team. Get your sprinters to get in close, making sure the first line is spread out while the back field players shoot as much and as fast as they can. Now, I know that most people think that this is strategy, but in my experience any Joe Blow who can move their index and middle finger fast enough can get into the sport.

When I first started participating in Paintball games I had a rental gun that wasn't so accurate or effective from a long distance. I remember that a guy on the other team had a great gun with a double tap trigger and stood in the very back of the field shooting tons of paint towards our team. I understand that he was using the only strategy that he knew to work, but to me that contradicts the game.

In that specific case there is no sport involved, it has everything to do with equipment. I could only imagine if they had five other people standing back there doing the same thing. How much fun would that be?

So is strategy involved in Airsoft, or a better strategy that involves more than just equipment? I want to make a note that better equipment will definitely optimize your sport experience, but I don't think a sport should solely rely on having the best equipment. It takes the fun out of the game and sooner or later it takes the strategy out as well.

Personally, I would much rather be holding a sniper rifle with a long range scope, backing my team up from an elevated level several hundred feet behind them and making sure that their every move is safe. Or posted on the flank while skirmishing through a thick set of woods holding an M16 fully-automatic machine gun, backed up with a 9milimeeter strapped to my ankle incase I needed it for some close combat.

Gaming can take place in an open field with no barriers or a 100-yard field full of trees, brush, and bushes. This all happens while talking on the radio, knowing every location my team is in. This makes for some extreme planning and strategy, not to mention some extreme fun.

So what sport is emerging and what sport is becoming the 'equipment war' rather than a sport? When it comes to The Sport of Airsoft versus The Sport of Paintball I would have to choose Airsoft, and not just because of the costs or the clean up, but simply because of the realistic features and adventures involved. From the guns to the gaming it makes more sense to have fun in a realistic game of warfare without the death part.

In any case, when it comes to sport, I would have to say crawling on the ground under brush or posting yourself 35 feet in the air decked out in camouflage sniping people from an elevated position is more sport than standing in the back of a field loading and shooting, loading and shooting as fast as you can. In other words I think it is evident which sport is actually emerging and unfortunately which equipment race is on its way out.

The Importance of Firing Velocities For Airsoft Guns

The feet per second, or FPS, of a gun is an important consideration for any type of gun. This is especially important for airsoft guns because these guns can come in a variety of different FPS levels.

The FPS level of an airsoft gun refers to how quickly ammunition will go after it is shot out of the gun. The FPS, or feet per second, is the measure of speed that is used. When the FPS number is higher the BB or paintball shell that comes out of the gun will travel at a faster rate.

What makes this such a major consideration for any of these guns is that these guns can come in different forms that handle different firing velocities. Some of the slowest guns will be ones that can fire at a velocity of less than two hundred FPS. Some of the most powerful of these guns can handle velocity levels that are closer to three hundred FPS.

While these speeds are indeed very fast they are relatively slow when compared with real guns. An actual firearm can fire bullets at more than two thousand feet per second in many cases.

An important part of the firing velocity of this type of gun deals with the legality of the gun. In some countries there are limits as to what the firing velocities of these guns can be. For example, in many countries around Europe including Italy and Slovenia guns are allowed but they must have firing velocities of less than one hundred meters per second or 328 FPS. Any gun that has a firing velocity greater than a country's limit for an airsoft gun will be considered a firearm and will be subjected to country laws and in some cases registration requirements.

Protecting Your Airsoft Arsenal: Rust Prevention

Full metal Airsoft guns are the latest trend to hit the Airsoft market. In an attempt to increase reliability, longevity, power and realism many Airsoft manufacturers and enthusiast alike are opting for full metal Airsoft guns in place of their plastic counterparts, especially among Airsoft shotguns and Airsoft sniper rifles. While there are many benefits associated with metal Airsoft guns, there is one main disadvantage- the threat of rust. As with any metal gun, rust is always a possible danger. Rust is not only unsightly, but if left alone it can corrode the barrel or internal mechanisms and ruin the overall performance of your Airsoft gun. Below are a few different methods for keeping your Airsoft gun rust free.

Rust Prevention Products

Investing in a high quality rust prevention product is a great and easy way to protect your metal Airsoft gun. There are hundreds of rust prevention products on the market that provide various levels of protection. Rust prevention products typically come in a liquid or an aerosol spray form. It's also important to note that not all rust prevention products are lubricants. If you plan on using a rust preventative on any moving parts you should consider using a rust preventative that also acts like as a lubricant.

Desiccants

Desiccants are the small packages of silica gel commonly found in new clothing and other various products. Desiccants prevent rust by absorbing water and preventing excessive humidity. You can purchase desiccants from your local hardware store or simply find them in new product packaging. However, it's important to note that desiccants only remove humidity in their local vicinity and in order to properly utilize them, your Airsoft guns must be in a case, gun safe or any other type of sealed storage container.

Temperature-Controlled Gun Safes

While certainly the most expensive option, temperature-controlled gun safes not only allow you to set your humidity and temperature levels, but they also provide the security of having a lockable storage location for your Airsoft arsenal. You can also save money by purchasing a standard gun safe and installing your own humidity control system.

The Incredible Airsoft Automatic Electric Gun Part III

Arguably the most functional and exciting form of a replica gun ever made, the Airsoft automatic electric gun is characterized by its exquisite replication and outstanding craftsmanship. Although the sport of Airsoft had its beginnings in the early 1980s, the sports popularity began to take off in the early 90s when the first automatic electric guns (AEG) were developed and produced.

The premier manufacturer of the AEG is a Japanese company known as the "Godfather" of Airsoft called Tokyo Marui. With its primary market obviously in Japan, its high quality products are sold worldwide through a number of third party retailers. TM originally manufactured radio controlled hobby cars, and was a leading player in the model car industry before turning their attention to designing and manufacturing Airsoft guns.

TM is highly regarded as the industry standard in terms of quality and craftsmanship when it comes to the AEG. Their products are recognized for several well-known characteristics. TM AEGs are the high water mark for very realistic replicated looks. If not for their orange tips, these guns would be hard to differentiate from their real life counterparts such as the AK-47, the M-16, and the FAMAS F-1. These AEGs primarily have an ABS plastic body and are especially noted for their high quality construction. Batteries that are rechargeable, and which when drained can easily be replaced by a recharged unit power them. All the TM AEGs are fitted with their patented metal mech-box and known for their great reliability.

One of the most exciting features of the TM AEG is the ability to upgrade these wonderful Airsoft products. Along with Tokyo Marui, there are several other high-end companies producing dozens of different automatic electric Airsoft models with a full line of accessories and upgrades. The AEG is the most customizable of all the Airsoft guns, giving its owners the sense of designing their own unique weapon.

The performance of an AEG is often measured by its accuracy, shot velocity, distance, its operating time, and perhaps most importantly, its rate of fire (ROF). To enhance these elements, there are upgrades available for most of the critical parts of the AEG. This would include several different types of batteries that produce more power and upgrades to the AEGs internal mechanisms such as motors, gearboxes, bushings, and gears. External upgrades include enhancements to the scopes, barrels, stocks, and sights.

Perhaps the only prohibitive characteristic of the AEG is their overall price. Before adding upgrades, the base price of a new AEG is roughly between 200-400 U.S. dollars, depending on the model. Upgrades can be somewhat pricy, possibly costing several hundred dollars as well. Batteries alone can run around 45 to 50 U.S. dollars not including the charger that is needed.

There are several different types of Airsoft guns that are less expensive than the AEG. A low-end spring gun can be purchased for as little as 20 dollars. Although there are less expensive Airsoft guns, interested buyers should keep this perspective in mind: No other product can match the exhilarating excitement and thrill of owning one of these fabulous automatic electric Airsoft guns!

The Incredible Airsoft Automatic Electric Gun Part I

In the ever-growing sport of Airsoft, no one product has impacted its worldwide popularity more than the incredible automatic electric gun. This particular Airsoft gun, commonly referred to as the AEG, has single handedly lifted the sport to meteoric heights.

Airsoft had its humble beginnings in Asia due to the strict gun laws that severely prohibited the private ownership of firearms in that region of the world. It was in the nation of Japan where it is illegal to own real firearms, that the first Airsoft gun replicas were developed in the early 1980's. A small Japanese manufacturer of radio controlled car models turned its sights to making replica guns in hopes of finding a market for gun enthusiasts, and the sport of Airsoft was born.

The early Airsoft guns were non-lethal, spring powered replicas that fired 6mm plastic BBs. These early toy guns were made of plastic and simple in design. The spring firing mechanism had to be manually re-loaded or "re-cocked" after each shot causing a meager if un-spectacular slow rate of fire. Without any real design enhancements in the early years of its development, interest in the sport grew at a tepid pace.

The sport slowly gained interest in the surrounding region during the latter part of the 80's, but attempts to expand the sport to the West were largely unsuccessful. It would be in the early 1990's that "lighting" would strike, and the sport would encounter its greatest moment of innovation and subsequent breakthrough.

Tokyo Marui, the original Japanese manufacturer that created the early Airsoft spring guns, designed the first fully automatic electric firing system for these replica guns. No longer needing to be manually re-loaded, the innovated on-board electric motor gave the Airsoft gun shooter the ability to fire at will. This automatic rapid-fire feature not only increased the excitement of the game, but also gave the sport its greatest appeal. Automatic electric Airsoft gun owners could now enjoy an exhilarating rate of fire (ROF) ranging anywhere between 600-900 rounds per minute (RPM).

With this exciting new product, Airsoft now offered a universal appeal. The sport caught fire and began to boom. Airsoft spread to different parts of Europe and then to Canada. By the mid-90's it had officially arrived in the United States.

The most popular of all the Airsoft guns, the most current models have the same realistic look and feel of their real-world counterparts. These guns range from the Desert Eagle pistol model to the "mini" or miniature style AEG's, all the way up to the stunning Armalite M15A2 full size assault replica rifles. The AEG is by far the most common gun used in team competitions around the world. These preferred weapons of veteran Airsoft warriors and enthusiasts have something to offer every interested player and collector.

Sniper's Best Ghillie Suit

Snipers have been and still are essential parts of military units. They are target specialists using sniper rifles who can fire accurate shots from a long distance. Snipers are camouflage specialists with supreme accuracy in aim, great survival and camouflage skills and tremendous patience augmented by near-perfect calculation powers. They operate singly, sneaking up on the enemy and eliminating them one by one while remaining completely invisible. They usually operate by eliminating commanding officers of enemy units.

So, we can see that camouflage is a key to a sniper, second only to his shooting abilities. Thus after the sniper rifle, the sniper ghillie suits they use are of utmost importance to them as these are what they depend most for camouflage. Such suits are also used by hunters for remaining invisible to game. In fact ghillies were first developed by Scottish game keepers for hunting. The British Lovat Scouts' Snipers are known to be the first military unit to use Ghillie Suits. The suit was used in the Boer wars.

Blending into the surroundings is of utmost importance for snipers. Since they have to get in close to the opponent unit they need all the camouflage that they can get. The success of a camouflage means life or death to a sniper. For a hunter ghillies are very essential for getting close to a prey. Game like deer, have very keen senses and fast reflexes and running abilities. To hunt them it is essential to get close. However, ordinarily game is able to sense a hunter moving in. Camouflaging allows the hunter to sneak in without the game taking notice. Sniper ghillie suits are made to resemble the vegetation of the area where they operate. The specialist snipers make their own suits picking up vegetation on the way to attach to their suit.

The Special Ops Sniper Ghillie, is made of synthetic thread, nylon or similar durable material with netting sewn to it. The netting forms the base of the suit. The suit is then weathered by soaking it in mud. As the sniper moves in his track, he keeps adding the vegetation of the area to the suit. Snipers spend most of their time laying or crawling on the ground. For this reason the front of the jacket and pants have to be left open. The sewn on Jute thread covers the back of the jacket, tops of the arms, and shoulders and thumb loops are sewn into the cuff of the sleeves for crawling.

Sniper ghilies can get very hot and heavy. Even in moderate climates, the temperature inside a ghillie easily reaches 120 °F. The material of the suit is also flammable, unless treated with fire retardant. The suit as a result, is prone to catching fire from smoke grenades or white phosphorus. To enhance safety, the US Army Soldier Systems Center has developed a fire resistant ghillie fabric to replace the jute or burlap. This new material self extinguishes itself as the fire resistant material is inherent in the suit. This is enough to allow a sniper turn into the most lethal and stealthy enemy for both its human victim as well as game.

To buy the lowest priced lightweight sniper ghillie suits and other ghillie materials for Paintball, Airsoft, Hunting, Sniper or Military Personnel, go to Ghillie Suit Market.

Which Is a Better Airsoft Gun - Spring Or Electric?

The plain and simple answer to the spring or electric airsoft dilemma is: It Depends. It depends on many factors which you should consider when you are trying to select between the two main types of airsoft guns.

So which one is better airsoft gun?

First you have to decide for yourself what kind of gameplay do you like. Do you like to be in the center of the action, shooting hundreds of BBs all around the battle field? Or you like to be far far away at a safe place taking out your opponents one by one and see their surprised faces once they get hit from nowhere!

The automatic guns are most of the times electric. Thus if you like to be in the heart of the action you have to choose electric airsoft gun. It will deliver big shooting speed so you can eliminate many of your close-by opponents in no time. Some of the better airsoft gun products with battery can also shoot at long range distances and be somewhere accurate.

The downside of electric airsoft guns are a few but very important. They tend to empty their ammo clips very fast. This can leave you at that unpleasant spot when you are out of BBs and your opponents are all over you. Their long distance accuracy is not very good. AEGs are mainly made for close combat. One of the worst accidents you might experience is if you forget to charge your battery or it just runs out. Then your electric gun is only usable for a direct hit of your enemies, which in airsoft terms is way out of the allowed techniques. Electric airsoft guns also tend to get stuck more than the sniper airsoft rifles.

If you are a fan of long range accurate shots like me, then you have to choose spring powered airsoft weapon. There is no better amusement than seeing an enemy's surprised face when he gets "killed" while hiding or just regrouping. In every airsoft team there should be at least one sniper hitman to clear the way for a rush attack.

Of course this type of airsoft equipment have their cons. The main one is the slow rate of reloading. You will have to reload for each and every shot. This means manually cocking the spring. This takes time and is not useful for close combats at all. This is one of the main reasons I only recommend spring powered airsoft guns for the sniper rifles. As a sniper you can your backup pistol ready for the face to face encounters.

Whenever you decide between spring or electric airsoft gun make sure it is the better airsoft gun for your style of play.

And remember: players who choose airsoft sniper rifles should strongly consider bb gun pistols just in case the enemy pays them a close visit.

What Exactly Is Airsoft?

What exactly is airsoft? Airsoft, which is a recreational sport, is played by a variety of people for a few different reasons. Airsoft guns are replicas of real firearms, but they fire small plastic pellets called BBs instead of actually ammunition.

In the 1970s, airsoft created in Japan to be a recreational sport, but now a days it has some other uses. The first guns designed were spring powered and shot several sizes of rubber, aluminum or plastic BBs, but eventually it became a standard to use 6mm and 8mm plastic BBs. The spring guns eventually evolved into electric guns. Because of the all the new manufacturers of guns in Japan, Hong Kong, and Taiwan, the airsoft guns began to be exported to North America.

There are various reasons why people play airsoft. Some of the people that play airsoft are former/current military personnel and police officers. There are those that are very young and those that are adults. Also, people commonly play because they have a legitimate interest in military history, and some because they are engulfed in police tactics. But, the reason why all airsofters play is because it is extremely fun.

There are a plethora of guns out there; they vary by type, what powers them, and by looks. Gas, a spring, or electricity are what airsoft guns are powered by; electricity is the most popular. Electric guns are usually referred to as AEGs (Automatic Electric Guns), and are battery operated. The most popular airsoft AEG is the M4, but other popular types of AEGs include the MP5, AK-47, M14, G36, and scar. There also are quite a few airsoft pistols and airsoft sniper rifles available in stores. Airsoft guns can be as expensive as a thousand dollars if you are looking at a custom gun or a Systema, or they can be as cheap as a few dollars. There are a ton of airsoft guns availabe. You can chose by type, by what powers them, and by looks. Airsoft guns are powered by either electricity (this is the most popular), gas, or a spring. Electric airsoft guns are usually reffered to as AEGs (Automatic Electric Guns), and are battery operated. The most popular airsoft AEG is the M4, but other popular types of AEGs include the MP5, AK-47, M14, G36, and scar. Sniper Air Soft Guns

Having a sniper rifle in one?s hand is a great feeling. It transports one to the dark world of high profile hit men, the rugged grounds where army men and personnel take their shots or the slushy trenches that date back to the world war period. It only takes one?s imagination to list the various feelings associated with a sniper rifle. Unfortunately, sniper rifles are extremely hard to come by and are prohibitively expensive. Even if you purchase a sniper rifle by putting in your big savings, to what use can you put it? Air soft sniper rifles are a great alternative. They are excellently modeled in a mix of wood, metal, and plastic, to give a feel of the real thing.

Instead of shooting real bullets, these guns fire plastic BB pellets (usually at 400 fps). These can be either spring powered or gas powered. The gas powered ones are better in terms of range and quicker loading.

The downside of an air soft sniper rifle is that they are essentially ineffective for long distance sniping. They only become effective after a power upgrade, variants of which are quite common in the market today. The usual range of 50-100 feet gets a boost with these power upgrades. Also, hop-up mechanisms on selected models put a backspin on the BB pellets to maintain a straight projectile flight path. A laser pointer can also add to the fun.

Various models of sniper air soft guns are available at hobby stores and several online stores. Ebay also has several listings of sniper air soft guns that can help you purchase new and used guns at reasonable prices.

The Airsoft Starters Guide

If you have decided that you want to play airsoft, then there are a few things that you will need to buy before you start playing. You will need eye protection, an airsoft gun, camo or appropriate clothes, a tactical vest or belt, and a there are many other things that you should get later on if you are serious.

You absolutely need some form of eye/face protection in order to play airsoft. Airsoft is dangerous if you do not wear the correct safety equipment.Safety glasses or goggles are okay for target practice, but if you are being shot at, you will need a paintball mask. Paintball masks cover your entire face to help prevent you from being hit in the eye, nose, or mouth. You do not want to be hit in any of those areas, and you should never play airsoft without the proper safety equipment.

Once you got your airsoft mask, then you can buy the fun things, like your airsoft gun. If you are just starting out, I suggest that you buy an AEG, which is an automatic electric gun that runs on batteries. AEG's are the most popular airsoft guns, and they are the easiest to use.. If you are going to play airsoft, you should spend the most money on your gun. Do not skimp on airsoft guns, remember that the good ones have good resale value and you can just sell it online if you lose interest in the sport. There is no reason to buy a garbage AEG, but that doesn't mean you can't buy a good airsoft gun for a cheap price. I am always someone that wants to save money, but if it is something that has good resale value, I don't mind spending money on it. When you first start, you should get an AEG, and then once you are used to playing airsoft you can get a spring or gas gun. The better brands of AEGs are Tokyo Marui, Classic Army, G&G and STAR. If you have money to burn, buy a Systema, but I couldn't afford one.

Once you have your safety equipment and your airsoft gun, you should consider buying yourself some kind of clothing for playing airsoft. Ideally, you will have a gun and uniform for both good guys and bad guys, but that is not important when you are just starting out. A good pair of BDUs and maybe a tactical vest to hold extra magazines and water would be a good start. I recommend some kind of cheap full body jumpsuit when you are first starting, and then once you find out that airsoft is the best sport ever, you will want to buy some clothing for scenario play.

I hope this article helped give you so insight on how you will need to buy to play airsoft and how much it will cost. Airsoft is a great game and i hope you enjoy playing it as much as I do.

Which Airsoft Guns Are the Best?

More and more people are taking up an interest in Airsoft simulations as a hobby. It really can be quite fun. The problem lies at WalMart, where mostly low quality Airsoft guns are sold. Any true Airsoft player will tell you to stay away from these and invest in a quality Airsoft rifle or sub. There are so many out there and where do I start!? Should I get a rifle? a pistol? Is the sniper rifle any good?

These are questions I had when I went shopping online for Airsoft guns. There are so many options, and of course the picture of the item looks intriguing... but does it shoot accurately? Does it shoot far? How long do the batteries last?

Firstly, I think all serious Airsofters should carry a pistol and another gun. The other gun could be a sniper rifle, or a standard rifle or sub machine gun. The preference here should lie to two places. You should consider the weight of the gun, and you should consider the length of the barrel, which will ultimately determine the accuracy of the gun.

Sniper rifles are obviously very accurate, however they can be somewhat heavy and bulky to carry around, because of situations like this, you need to decide what role you want to play on the field. Do you want to pick off foes from a distance, or provide cover fire for your teammates? Do you want to be the one that guards a particular objective? Deciding on one of these roles can help to determine if you need a rifle or even a shotgun (yea they are good!). I recommend the G3 Airsoft rifle or the M4 Airsoft rifle, both of these are medium sized weapons that have a great balance of weight and accuracy.

DO NOT FORGET: You need to protect your eyes! ALWAYS wear eye and ear protection when participating in an Airsoft simulation. Airsoft is great fun, but not worth losing an eye over.

Varieties of Airsoft Rifles

Airsoft rifles come in all sizes, although they generally retain a basic shape. There are low-end and high-end airsoft rifles, and even the cheaper varieties have benefits. The fact that there are so many kinds of airsoft rifles means that you should take a fair amount of time to learn about them. By being knowledgeable, you ensure that you will make the best decision about what airsoft rifle to buy.

Low-Priced Electric Guns (LPEGs) are airsoft rifles usually ranging between thirty and one hundred dollars. Many LPEGs are replicas of guns like the AK47 and MP5. Despite the price, they are still fairly durable and powerful.

The second type of rifle is the MPEG, or mid-priced electric gun. They are more pricey than LPEGs, but the difference is price is made up for with quality. Echo1 and similar brands can be classified as MPEGs.

AEGs are the highest quality airsoft rifles. They have amazing firing rates, long lasting durability, and stunning designs. Anybody who is deeply in to airsoft needs an AEG, and the investment is more than worth it.

Gas rifles do not utilize electricity, but instead use green gas or CO2 as the method of propulsion. These airsoft guns can reach firing powers greater than electric guns simply because they use gas. However, they are not as wieldy, so there is a trade-off in handling for power.

For beginners, spring rifles are the best option, as they are easy to use and have a low price. Also falling under the category of spring rifles are sniper rifles, which are especially powerful rifles that can propel pellets long distances.

With so many types of airsoft rifles, including spring, electric, and gas, there are a plethora of models you can choose from. Depending on what you want, one category may be preferred over another, and finding something is not hard as long as you know what you are looking for.

Which Airsoft BB Weight Do I Need?

One of the most overlooked parts of airsoft is choosing the correct BB weight. The tragedy of new airsoft players is when they spend hours picking out that shiny $300 AEG, only to load it with cheap .12g BBs and break the gun! Oh, and not to mention, you probably voided your warranty as well!

Although there are various weights for BBs, the four most common types you will see are .12g, .2g, .25g, and .3g. A few things you should note: the lighter the BB, the higher your velocity or FPS. The heavier the BB, the more accurate and less affected it is by wind resistance. This means your BB will actually travel further than a lighter BB, even though the lighter BB will have a higher velocity. The general rule is to shoot the heaviest BB your gun works with.

.12g BBs:

These BBs work well in spring guns or low powered electric guns. NEVER use these bullets in high quality electric guns, as they may jam and destroy the internals! Many manufacturers will consider your gun void if you shoot .12g BBs! One problem with the .12g BBs is that many horrible generic brands are offered at big box stores, and probably shouldn't ever be used! Make sure they are seamless and precision ground BBs.

.2g BBs:

This is the most common and acceptable weight for airsoft guns. They can be used for almost any gun except very cheap pistols and low powered electric guns. However, they are not suggested for higher end sniper rifles. If you are new to the game, or just aren't sure which weight to get, this is the one for you!

.25g BBs:

These are heavier grade BBs and should generally not be used in spring guns unless they are sniper rifles. This is often the choice of more experienced airsoft players, as they provide the best accuracy and travel the furthest.

.3g BBs:

These BBs are primarily meant for sniper rifles. They will provide the highest accuracy and distance, and will also pack quite a punch. It is possible to use these BBs in a high upgraded AEG, but otherwise you will be disappointed due to the low FPS.

The other weights you will find are basically just a mix of what I've written above, so a .23g BB will trade a bit of accuracy for a higher velocity. You will also find ultra-heavy .36-.43g BBs that are meant for highly upgraded sniper rifles.

Looking Into Airsoft Guns?

Today many people have a renewed interest in air guns. Many of us remember having them as children and the renewed interest is natural. The Airsoft Rifle and the Air soft Pistol both come to mind as great examples of quality and price / performance and you will be hard pressed to find better product for the money.

As you look into this, you will see that things have changed a lot since the inception of the airsoft guns. Today you can choose from the rifle, the pistol, the shotgun, and the sniper models. That is more than enough to interest most anyone.

What makes these things even more exciting is the attention to detail and the realism that they portray. As you look at the various models such as the M-16 style Airsoft Rifle or the Air soft Pistol that is designed as a full sized Uzi replica, it is easy to see why these units can excite the people that own them. They are so realistic looking that at first glance it is hard to tell them apart from the real thing for anyone but an expert.

It used to be that this type of weapon was just a pump up unit and today you can get them in standard models, electric models and ones that use C02 or compressed gas to propel the "bullet" towards its target. Along with the many years of changes have come a longer range and improved accuracy that you would have only dreamed of having as a young adult getting started with air guns.

The Air soft Rifle is available today in many models and types. That is a far cry from the one or two models that were available when I was younger. As I look these over it is easy to get the urge to get back into the fun of them again.

As you peruse the Air soft Pistol lineup, you should be equally as impressed with what you find. They offer three different of operating types: spring, electric and gas, which come in many different models.

As you move on from the Airsoft Rifle and the Air soft Pistol and delve into the Shotgun and the Sniper areas, you will or should be summarily impressed with what you are going to find there. The airosft shotgun and airsoft sniper lineup also offers a wide variety of operating types and models that just beg you to grab them and give them a test fire.

All in all, airsoft has put together a lineup of guns for this market that are quite accurate, durable, and cost effective and should offer enough to keep even the most critical of user happy and ready to come back for more. They offer a grand product value for the investment dollar and you will more than likely not have a reason to be anything other than pleased with what you have.

Why Airsoft Pellet Weights Matter

The weight of the pellets you use for your airsoft guns greatly affects trajectory, accuracy, and distance. In airsoft games especially, you want your pellets to go as far and as accurate as possible. While the airsoft gun itself plays a major role in determining accuracy, it is important not to dismiss the effects of the pellets themselves.

The two most popular weight types are .12g and .20g. Low end guns, such as basic spring and electric pistols, primarily utilize .12g pellets, although most do function with .20g ones. The reason for this is that .12g pellets put less strain on the internal systems of these guns.

For higher end airsoft guns, .20g and .25g are the best options. While .12g BBs initially have greater velocities than weightier pellets, they decelerate faster and are more susceptible to external environmental factors. Heavier BBs are more stable and are generally more accurate than lighter pellets, but at too high a weight their velocity is not great enough for significant distance to be achieved. In airsoft games, you will rarely find anyone using .12g pellets, as they are vastly inferior to .20g and .25g ones.

Weights beyond .25g should not be used in standard airsoft guns, although they are appropriate for airsoft sniper rifles. For example, the standard weight for a quality sniper rifle is .30g. As the weight of an airsoft pellet increases, so must the specifications of an airsoft gun. To support a .30g BB, an airsoft gun must be very high quality, and depending on the gun, may even need upgrades.

The heaviest pellet that you will probably never see in your life is .88g. Besides being incredibly slow, they are made of steel and thus cannot be used in airsoft games. If you ever come across one, the best advice to follow is to avoid being hit at all costs.

The Most Powerful Airsoft Gun

Airsoft gun sports is a rapidly upcoming recreational sport that is taking the nation by a storm. This has caused a huge stir among the pellet guns manufacturers which has led to the revolution in airsoft guns. Gone are the days when people used to play missions in the forest with spring powered pellet guns. Now when you mention airsoft gun, AEG's (Airsoft electric guns) and Gas powered guns come to mind. Spring guns are mostly used for target practise mostly because of its lack of muzzle velocity and blow back action.

The most powerful addition to the airsoft family is the Airforce condor fully loaded sniper rifle. With a muzzle velocity of almost 1300fps, this rifle is unmathced, unbeatable and outclasses every other airsoft gun put in its wake. Even with all its power, this gun is absolutely recoil-less. Of course the power of the gun can be adjusted depending the range you plan to use it for. The fully loaded versions come with a 4x16 50 AO scope. You can however use your own preferred scope. The accuracy is as high as

The Condor is manufactured by the Airforce Airguns, airsoft guns manufacturer in America. Being in business for over 15 years, they are known for making long range rifles. Since Airforce is only a manufacturer, you will have to purchase the gun from a reputed dealer. Being high profile pellet guns, it is on the expensive side and is recommended for use by experts only. Beware of cheap imitations and unathorized re-sellers. There are pellet guns that are availavble for 1/10th of the price of this sniper. Retailers would not be selling these guns widely if it wasn't worth the cost. This is a lifelong equipment if maintained properly.

The above article is for informatory purposes only. I do not recommend any specific retailers nor have I provided a direct link to a retailers website. Airsoft is a fun sport when played safely. Please make sure to have your safety gear on before going on any mission.

What's With All the Airsoft Pistols, Rifles, and Shotguns?

Airsoft is not a new sport per se but is not as widely known as paintball. It involves players attempting to eliminate each other by shooting plastic BBs at each other.

There are airsoft pistols, rifles and shotguns. The main difference between airsoft and paintball is that the bbs do not break therefore you have to use the honor system. This works just fine if you're playing with the right kinds of people. Airsoft started in Japan because the japans people were not allowed to own real weapons so the created replicas while airsoft did officially start in Japan I know my dad was playing a similar version with single pump bb guns (think red rider) and think jackets. Now we all realize the dangers of shooting metal bb's at each other (you'll shoot your eye out )but boys will be boys and in the 1950s this was just good old fun.

Well Japan figured out a way to make it much safer, although you still need to wear eye protection at a minimum, by using plastic bb's. The sport gradually progresses from flimsy toy like guns to full body replicas capable of shoot in up to 500+ FPS.

These guns are all fired in one of three ways ether buy manually cocking a spring such as pulling back the slid on a airsoft pistol or racking a bolt on a rifle. This guns can shoot very fast and be very accurate especial when set up as a sniper rifle.

The second way airsoft guns are fired is by electric motor. These are commonly called AEGs or automatic electric guns. These still use a spring but the spring is compressed by an electric motor and a set of gears as opposed to manually cocking the spring. When the spring is fully compressed it is released to push a piston into chamber thus creating a high pressure blast of air to propel the bb. The main advantage to the AEG is its ability to fire on fully automatic which means you pull the trigger and bbs come out until you either run out of bb's or your let go of the trigger.

The third way AEG's are fired is by the use of compressed gas sch as C02 or green gas which is a propane mixture. CO2 is used in some guns but the majority of newer airsoft guns us green gas. These guns are usually airsoft pistols but they are starting to make more CQB rifles and sniper type rifles.

Overall airsoft is going to be just as big if not bigger than paintball if my predictions are correct. The lack of a mess and the inexpensive nature of the ammo being the major factor also for the price of a midgrade paintball gun you can get a really nice airsoft gun

Want To Be An Airsoft Sniper

Airsoft as a hobby tends to revolve around assault rifles and pistols and has done for years. The vast majority of airsoft fans want to own replica M16s, M4s, AK47s etc. But not every airsoft fan is created the same way - some of us aren't interested in high volume firepower. There's an additional skill and beauty to aiming for one shot, one kill - the way of the sniper. Hitting your opponent with 100 bbs out of the blue is one thing but striking your opponent when they leat expect it with one well placed shot from the perfect ambush position adds an entirely new element to the game itself.

Airsoft sniper rifles, especially models like the Super 9, are designed to look very, very realistic and are often modeled after their military or police counterparts. The Super 9 for example is modeled after a Belgian police rifle. The other neat thing about these guns is that you can place your airsoft bbs inside of a secondary shell so when you load your rifle you're loading an actual replica shell instead of a clip filled with plastic pellets. The only possible drawback with these sniper rifles is that they're somewhat on the heavy and bulky side of things but then again as a sniper you're meant to be working from a fixed position so this doesn't really come into play as much as you might think.

Most of these rifles are spring powered as opposed to being gas or electric powered. Firstly this provides one huge advantage to your role as a sniper - almost complete silence when firing. The less noise you make the more success you'll have as an airsoft sniper. You also have the added coolness of using a bolt-action airsoft rifle so you'll feel like a proper sniper as you lay there in wait for your next unwitting enemy.

If you want to be a truly accurate and lethal airsoft sniper then you'd do well to add at least a bipod and possibly even a laser scope to your shopping list. The more steady your weapon is the higher chance you have of an accurate long distance kill. Also take into consideration that these rifles can be quite heavy so consider purchasing a shoulder strap if you think you may have to move around quite a bit.

As always when using an airsoft weapon of any kind practice safety and caution. Airsoft bbs flying around at speeds of several hundred feet per second won't cause any permanent damange unless they hit somebody in the eye - in which case the person could easily be blinded. If you're going to play airsoft war games then do yourself a favour and wear proper eye protection - sunglasses aren't enough. Ideally wear a paintball style full face protective mask - you'll be glad that you did.

Top Rifle Camouflage

Paintball, Sniper Pros, Hunting and Airsoft enthusiasts many times have gotten dressed in such a manner that they can camouflage with their surroundings. Camouflaging is necessary if the hunter wants to be successful in getting their prey. The hunters are required to have a sense of slyness and be able to merge with the surroundings successfully. Wearing camouflage is necessary, because it breaks the human silhouette and you can travel around completely ignored. Many hunters focus on camouflaging themselves all the time and forget about the importance of camouflaging their weapon.

And therefore, the result is that their rifle sticks out like an ugly thumb. And any animal will be able to notice you! Therefore a rifle camouflage is a very important activity and you can camouflage the rifle yourself. There are two ways of doing this. One, is simple, all you will need is some cans of spray paint.

The other way is much, much, much easier and less opportunity to damage your gun or rifle, and as opposed to spray paint...it is not PERMANENT! The other way to make your own rifle wrap with jute/burlap or synthetic thread some elastic and netting or purchasing rifle wraps, inexpensively off the internet.

When you camouflage a rifle, you would like to paint it with the colors that will merge with the surroundings. Camouflaging will also remove the shine from the metal pieces of the rifle, like the bolt, trigger and barrel. The first thing that you will be required to do is that to visit the home supplies store of your neighborhood and buy paints that will help you camouflage the weapon. The colors that you will require will be flat green, flat black, flat khaki, and flat brown. The flat paints will help you eliminate the shine and glare of the weapon.

In the first step prior to painting the weapon, you will have two options. You can disassemble the gun and paint it in parts or you can just paint it as a whole and mask of the segments that you do not wish to paint. If you choose the masking option then you can take blue paint tape from the store and mask off the sections barrel, bolt, scope glass and trigger etc.

After the gun is masked or disassembled you can start applying the first coat of the paint. This coat will be solid and will be applied on the whole rifle. The color will depend on the type of location you are going to use it. If in woodlands you can start the base color with green or if your location is a desert then the color would be a brown or khaki. Apply the coat and let the rifle to dry.

After the rifle is dry, go on and apply the second coat. There will be other decisions that you will have to take during this point. The color of the second coat will depend on the color of the plant life in that area. If it is grassland, then you can 'stripe' the gun with green color. If the area is woodlands, then you will have to 'splotch' the paint. Doing this will help you to accomplish your job of rifle camouflage. You can also make interesting plant patterns with the paint on your rifle. The patterns must be similar to the patterns in that area. You can easily have a pattern on the rifle, take a leaf from that region and keep it between the paint can and the gun. Start painting and you will have painted the outline of the leaf.

You will have to repeat the process till you color the whole rifle and make it look like the area. Avoid symmetry as it would show up in the area. The use of brown and black colors must be restricted to just accents. After the paint gets dry you can unmask the areas or reassemble the pieces of the rifle. You will be proud of the rifle camo job you have done.

Treat Your Airsoft Rifle Right

While airsoft gear tends to be durable, I have come across a few prematurely broken electric airsoft sniper rifles in my time. More often than not, these rifles were victim to user misuse and abuse. I strongly believe that you should enjoy your airsoft gear to the fullest, but it's also important to take care of your investment so that it will last for the long-haul. Here are a few tips to help you do just that:

Only use quality BBs. If you take only one concept away from this list, let it be this: avoid cheap BBs at all cost! Low grade airsoft BBs are found in sporting goods stores and Wal-Mart. They are sometimes labeled as "Seamless Airsoft 0.20g" or "Seamless Airsoft 0.12g" BBs but don't let the name fool you, these are sub-par BBs and need to be avoided. These cheap BBs break apart too easily, which leads to jams, stripped pistons, and chipped gears. Furthermore, if you use cheap BBs you will void your warranty. High quality BBs are sold exclusively at airsoft specialty retailers and will minimize jamming, improve FPS, and improve firing accuracy.

Beware low battery power. When your rifle battery is low, it's easier for the gearbox to "lock up" which can lead to damaged internal components. To avoid this, keep your firearm appropriately charged and stop using the rifle when battery life is low.

But also beware of over-changing. On the flip side, it is not wise to leave your battery charging overnight with a standard wall charger. This practice can lead to damaged battery cells. Charge for fixed periods of time using a hi-output "smart" charger, which will taper off the current when the battery is full.

Be careful with upgrades. Upgrades should only be made by experts. Keep in mind that raising battery voltage will put more stress on your firearm as it increases will your Rate of Fire (ROF) as opposed to Feet per Second (FPS) or velocity. If you want to increase your FPS it makes more sense to upgrade your spring, but again, this will add more stress to the internals that have not been upgraded in proportion to the spring. In short, it's best to consult with an expert when considering upgrades to your rifle.

Care for your gun. You should always perform general maintenance before and after serious game play. The general maintenance should include unjamming and clearing the barrel of debris, as well as lubing the internal barrel, the hop up and magazine. Expert internal maintenance should be done every 4 to 6 months.
