A Brief Introduction Into Airsoft Guns

Gun enthusiasts who cannot access real guns can still savor the shooting experience with Airsoft guns. These guns are popularly and understandably referred to as the "toy guns for the big boys". By scanning the market, especially the online stores, you can find one that is an exact replica in size, color, design, and functional mechanism, to the firearm of your dreams. The ammunitions used with Airsoft rifles, pistols and shotguns are referred to as BB and they basically are plastic pellets which weigh anything between 100 and 600 milligrams and with lengths between five and eight millimeters. These guns were created in the seventies in Japan but it is only in the nineties that they became popular in Europe and the United States.

Airsoft guns come in three main varieties i.e. the spring, gas and electric-powered type. The spring powered type is the original model and it is cocked every time you want to take a shot just like for normal rifles - pulling back the slide. To add more kick to the Airsoft game the pressurized gas Airsoft gun was introduced whereby a canister of gas provides the pressurized air that is needed to propel the ammunition. Gases such as HFC 134a which is a refrigerant and carbon dioxide/green are the common propellants used in these guns. The electric gun uses a battery-driven motor to propel the ammunition. The battery type mostly used is the nickel cadmium variety because it is long lasting and easily rechargeable.

With such impressive functionalities it is no wonder that adults love to play with Airsoft guns. These guns are suitable for people over the age of eighteen, but not kids, despite all the necessary measures that have been taken to ensure they are safe to play with. As mentioned before, the BBs or pellets used with these guns are made of plastic and they cannot penetrate clothing or the skin. The eyes are however susceptible to injury when hit by Airsoft bullets and as such it is necessary to put on eye protection during play.

These toys guns are bear great resemblance to the actual guns and thus to avoid any confusion that may arise especially with the authorities, Airsoft guns come with an orange flash at the end of the barrel to highlight the difference. You can find these guns molded into the shapes of the more popular guns such as the M-16, AK-47, M-41A, traditional sub machine guns, and sniper rifles etc. There also are different models based on how many rounds of ammunition they can discharge per minute and also the speed per feet they can launch ammunition. All these guns can be sourced affordably from online stores.
